I am running for Mayor of Santa Cruz because for the past five years Santa Cruz has been a construction zone for building high-end apartments with rents far outpacing locals’ financial ability to pay the exorbitant monthly rents.
We have to bring some balance to the rental market and incentivize affordable housing over luxury development.
UC Santa Cruz must also be a part of this solution. In order to grow to the 28,000 they woefully predict, they have got to house 100% of all new students.
