These years of construction have taken a toll on local business. Many simply could not withstand the severity of the current building boom taking place.
There are now at least 25 vacant businesses along Pacific Avenue. I hope to be the Mayor for independent local business and usher in a new era of local commerce by filling these empty storefronts with thriving new trade.
The Murray Street Bridge project has been devastating for local businesses. We need to reach out to affected businesses and draw up a better plan that would keep two-way traffic flowing on the bridge during construction, and perhaps add traffic officers to help smooth bottlenecks.
