We are very aware that ICE is already here, but may come sooner than later in much greater numbers.
The city needs a master plan and in turn also needs to work with immigrant rights organizations such as YARR — Your Area Rapid Response and SURJ (Showing up for Racial Justice). These two groups are on the front lines in working with immigrants.
During my seven years on the city council I helped initiate a Sanctuary City ordinance that prohibits city employees from working with ICE, and I also helped author and pass a city-wide Sanctuary City resolution.
