Environmental Protection

Santa Cruz sits within an ecological hotspot and we recognize that climate change is real.

As Mayor I plan to prioritize protecting and highlighting the natural beauty and resources that make our city so awesome to live in.

We need to implement policies that lower our carbon footprint like planting trees, maintaining our marsh land, electrifying the city’s vehicle fleet, and relentlessly pursue energy efficiency in every corner of city bureaucracy.

Maintaining clean beaches, safeguarding our redwood forests, and stewarding our greenbelt open spaces — the Pogonip, Lighthouse Field, Arana Gulch, and the Moore Creek Uplands — are all of great importance.
